The Lake Tahoe north shore is a beautiful place with a fantastic community. The whole lake has an ethereal beauty, but there are a few elements that make the north side feel like home.

The geography of the North Shore stretches from Tahoe City to Kings Beach. In between these two lakeside cities, Dollar Point pokes out into the water with a small jetty. The landscape is mountainous overlooking the lake in an open view.

Highway 89 connects Tahoe City and Kings Beach as an easy access point. It also hooks into highway 80 which goes toward Reno, Nevada and Sacramento, California. Reno is about one hour away and Sacramento is two hours away from Tahoe City.

The geography is extremely central to both major cities, as well as the mountains and the lake. This means summer or winter activities are equally easy access. The local ski resorts are Squaw Valley and Northstar, both world class resorts. The 1960 Olympics were held in Squaw Valley, leaving a rich history and vital community in the area. During the summer months, it is possible to find multiple places along the beach to launch a boat or go for a swim.

The seasonal weather is gorgeous. The summer brings sunshine and clear skies. The water reaches an average high in the low 80’s making a swim possible. As the sunshine permeates the water, the colors reflect out into vibrant greens or blues depending on water depth.

The winter months occur from November to March when about 78% of precipitation falls. The mountains become the perfect arena to slide down the snow, or to keep inside with a warm fire or cabin. Lake Tahoe is famous for heavy puffy snows perfect for winter mountaineers.
