He has created an impact on the world through his teachings, flowering in dedicated teachers and centers around the world. Iyengar Yoga is an innovative style of teaching, characterized by an alert practice, precise direction, alignment and depth. Emphasis is placed on meditation in action in the practice of asana (poses), while incorporating the science of sequencing and timing. Clear and safe instructions guide one on a steady path for the practice of pranayama (regulation of the breath), leading one to meditative states.
Principles of yoga philosophy are inextricably linked to the teachings, bringing the effects of the practice accessible to daily life.
Carolyn Belko, Director, is a devoted pupil of B.K.S. Iyengar and has studied with him on numerous occasions. She has been assessed by him and received Senior Level Certification. She is faculty of the Iyengar Yoga Training Program sponsored by the Southern California Association. Since 1994, Carolyn has been teaching throughout southern California, and opened Iyengar Yoga Center of North County with Mr. Iyengars blessings in 2003.
