What To Expect During Your First Visit To Our Church Home ...
Visiting a new church can be intimidating. We hope this brief introduction will help make you feel at home and we look forward to seeing you!
1. What kind of people are there?
Family Fellowship Church is an eclectic bunch of people representing several different ethnic groups, just like Oceanside. You're likely to bump into a school teacher, students, military folks, business folks, a mom, single folks, a grandpa, you name it.
2. How should I dress?
Clothing styles vary. Some folks wear jeans and flip-flops, others wear jackets and dresses. Wear what you like. There is no code or norm.
The services start at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.. Parking assistants will greet you as you enter our campus and direct you to the appropriate parking area. Visitors are encouraged to use our special visitor parking spaces. We invite you to pick up a program and visit the Information Center. Browse the program and you'll see all aspects of the service written there. If you have any questions, just ask. Before and afterwards we meet in front of the main sanctuary, where also light snacks and coffee are served before the services. This is a great time to get to meet some of your neighbors.
We're love them and we are for them! We have a trained, friendly, staffed nursery for your convenience. During the services, the children are invited to attend Children's Church-a kid-friendly time that involves singing, crafts, and a lesson from the Bible to help them learn about the Christian faith.
Your child's safety is our first concern. To ensure that no one can harm your child, we have completed a background check on every teacher. We also use the following sign-in and check-out system:
Parent receive a card with a security number when their child is signed into class.
If there is an issue of any kind during the service, we will display your number on the screen in the main sanctuary.
At close of the service, parents must show their security number to the teachers at the sign-in counter so we can match children to their appropriate parent or caregiver.
5. What is the service like?
The worship service is a dialogue (of sorts) between the congregation and God. The service includes music, prayers (silent and spoken), readings from Scripture, greeting one another (friendly and brief), a sermon, an offering, communion (the Lord Supper; twice a month), and a closing prayer.
6. How long does the service last?
About 90 minutes. Sometimes a little longer on special occasions, such as child dedications and water baptisms.
7. Am I required to do anything during the service?
No. An invitation to join in the Lord's Supper is given to all who profess to believe in Jesus Christ. If you don't believe or are not sure, we ask you not to participate in this part of the service. We would not ask you to do anything that would compromise your conscience or authenticity.
