After three wonderful years in Santa Barbara exhibiting contemporary art, specializing in photography of the20th Century, East West Gallery will be closing its doors and staging its final exhibition entitled THREE(s).

THREE(s) is a collection of photographic triptychs from artists who have exhibited at East/West as well as a few newcomers, including Horace Bristol, Henri Bristol, Esther Pullman, Ron Reihel, John Patrick Salisbury, and Christina Seely.
Triptychs have been used for centuries to convey a story through images in three parts, often in a religious subtext to delineate distinctive elements of a whole (The Holy Trinity, Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory). Modern works have taken this format to play with the idea of multifaceted representations of a singular idea. Whether applying the concept of narrative storytelling with a beginning, middle, and end or simply to divide a singular work to focus attention on its parts, triptychs are visually a way of punctuating an artist's point of view. We are pleased to present several such perspectives in our final exhibit, THREE(s).
The gallery thanks the community for its support and the local organizations it has worked with in putting together a collection of spectacular exhibitions including:EBB/FLOW, PAIRED, The Natural World, The Human Landscape, The Presence and Absence of Light, and most recently, Bristol:100.
Exhibition Dates: November 5- December 15, 2009

Book Sale and Auction items will be available at the opening reception.
As part of the "Art for Activism" series, 10% of all proceeds from the exhibition will go to support Santa Barbara Channelkeeper, a local community organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the Santa Barbara Channel and its watersheds.
East/West will continue as an online gallery focusing on quarterly exhibitions and updates on contemporary art from the web. Prints will be available through the website starting 2010.
