You swim for fitness, you swim for competition, you swim for your life sometimes; you weren't really swimming because swimmers are widely considered to have the best bodies . . . were you?

Not only are hats cool, but they're your last line of defense between you and UVA, UVB etc. Not to mention hats are great for bad hair days or, for some of us, permanent "no hair days."

Someone once said about squash: "As a kid, if you liked pulling the wings off of a fly, slowly, as an adult, you'll like squash." If your oponent isn't pretty fit, he or she is going to get tortured into defeat from burning lungs and burning muscles. Hey, but what fun, and you will deserve the general anesthetic (i.e. beer) after the match.

In 490 BC, the first battle for democracy was fought at the Greek village of Marathon. Though overwhelmingly out numbered by an invading Persian Army, the citizen-soldiers of Athens prevailed and in so doing preserved the classical Greek way of life that became the foundation of western civilization.
