Leonard Lehr, M.D. has been practicing obstetrics and gynecology in the Elk Grove area for over 35 years. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois Medical School and did his residency training at the University of Illinois. He has been board certified since 1976. He has always been in solo practice and personally cares for the needs of his patients. He is in the office every weekday and on call ever other night and weekend.
He has delivered over 6,000 babies, has always kept up with the latest medical information, and for the past year has been performing 3-D Ultrasounds on his obstetrical patients as part of his routine care (i.e. free).
He has had extensive experience in gynecologic surgery and is one of a very few physicians in California who performs 3-D vaginal ultrasounds as part of his evaluation for gynecologic problems. (Especially to help diagnose ovarian tumors) He has been performing laparoscopic surgery for 36 years.
Surgery to correct urinary incontinence has always been of special interest to him and he has considerable experience in multiple procedures for the correction of this problem. The majority of women with problems with urinary incontinence can be greatly helped with medical and occasionally surgical treatments.
In 2005, The Hill Physician Medical Group, with over 200 obstetricians, evaluated patient satisfaction with their doctors offices. Dr. Lehrs office and staff received the highest rating of all practices.
Dr. Lehr practices exclusively at Methodist Hospital where he is the Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He shares call with only one other physician and is able to deliver about 85-90% of his patients personally.
Methodist Hospital has a state of the art new addition for obstetrics and has a staff that is both qualified and compassionate. A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is in the same addition with qualified New-natologist available in the event they are needed.
