Brian, the co-owner and founder of the BioIntegrative Wellness Center, has always had a passion for working one-on-one with his patients, identifying the core cause of their pain and dysfunction, and treating accordingly. Not only has Brian spent years studying advanced manual therapy techniques, in an effort to better understand muscle pain and dysfunction He spent several years performing movement studies using external sensors (sEMG), which demonstrate specific muscle activity or lack of muscle activity. He found that there were underlying hidden protective muscle patterns which correlated with the patients pain and dysfunction. Through continued research he learned that the Central Nervous System (CNS) controlled these protective patterns and could maintain these protective patterns long after the initial trauma was gone. He tailored his manual therapy approach to not only address the biomechanical dysfunctions but to also address the underlying CNS driven patterns which also maintained these dysfunctions. Brians treatments have always included these hands on manual therapy techniques.Since 1992 he has seen approximately 12 18 patients a day. Working approximately 48 weeks a year, he has provided approximately 60,000 hands-on treatments. Brian has demonstrated that his approach works, and using this approach his patients have seen incredible results from chronic pain as well as acute injuries.
Brian received his undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology and Athletic Training from Fresno State and his Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University. He began working as an Athletic Trainer at the High School and College level in 1986. Brian worked as the director of Physical Therapy for several companies, helping these companies to achieve better outcomes while at the same time developing programs to help expand these businesses. In 1998 he opened McKeever Physical Therapy in Northern California. In 1999 he formed a consulting business in which he developed and implemented injury prevention programs and held seminars on wellness and injury prevention. Brian has worked with The Intel Corporation, Campbells Soup, Delta Dental, Blue Diamond Almonds, Pepsi Cola, Southwest Airlines and many other large companies. While working with the Intel Corporation he helped develop a program to reduce work-related injuries. For over 11 years he saw between 10-15 employees a week who were suffering from potential work-related discomfort. In total, he saw between 8,500 and 10,000 employees. Of these, less than 5% actually went on to file a work comp claim. This saved the Intel Corporation many hundreds of thousands of dollars in costs associated with potential work-related injuries. Brian believes his success has been based on his integrative and comprehensive approach to injury prevention and wellness. After beginning the first BioIntegrative Physical Therapy Center in Northern California, he decided to move his family to the small costal community of Wilmington, NC where they could enjoy the beaches, golf courses and Southern hospitality.
