Dear Friend of Rakestraw Books,
Watching footage of today's ticker tape parade for the Giants, I can't help thinking about what it takes to bring a community together. When I look around the room (or the garden or the theater) at some of our events here at Rakestraw Books, I know it's a community. It's both amazing and humbling. Many of this month's author visits take us out into the community: to a library and school in Walnut Creek; to the theater and a school in Danville. And, what a mix this month's guests are! Our headliners are two San Francisco icons: Armistead Maupin and Michael Krasny (the latter accompanied by some Danville icons!). We couldn't be prouder to host all these marvelous writers. Please join us for one or another of these special events.
I've also included the usual news for the month -- book group picks and our Signed First Edition Club pick. Book reviews will be along in a couple days or so. Please note that we still have tickets available our first November author visit: "An Evening with Armistead Maupin" I've been trying to get Maupin here at Rakestraw Books since I bought the store in 1995.
