The law firm of CORFEE STONE & ASSOCIATES (CSA) is the only leading premier law firm in Northern and Southern California which focuses on practicing three distinct areas of the law: (1) any and all facets of employment law; (2) ADA/handicap accessibility law, defense only; and (3) Fair Housing Law (Federal and California State). We soley limit our practice to civil rights litigation, including but not to, discrimination, harassment, retaliaton, wrongful terminaton, fair housing tester law, violaton of ADA/Title 24 access codes and more. We have extensive knowledge of federal and state accessibility codes and do not need to rely on non-attorney ADA experts. We also know the law, statutes, case interpretations, civil procedure, the exemptions and regulations with respect to the ADA/Title 24 codes.
As to employment law, we are the only law firm that occassionally represents employees. This makes CSA unique in that it has the competitive advantage of expert knowlege and experience with strategy for both sides. It is essential for you to retain counsel that knows compliance issues and litigation practies from both angles. We easily can anticipate theories, approaches, strategies and arguments from opposing counsel because we have experience of practicing from his/her point of view. Knowing only one side of the law is a disadvantage to clients. We have also represented a California state court that was sued for discrimination. Corfee Stone handles complex litigation, class actions, appeals and administrative law regarding our three areas of practices. Not one of our attorneys has less than 15 years experience. We do not have inexperienced attorneys with only 1 to 14 years experience. Quality representaton is our priority.
As to administrative cases, we have represent employers before the Department of Fair Employment Housing Commisson, Federal Department of Labor, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, HUD (Housing Urban Development), Cal/OSHA, and the WCAB (serious and willful claims/Labor Code 132a claims), etc.
Employment Law. Our areas of practice includes employment law advice, defending wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, violations of public policy, unfair competition, wage and hour disputes and other similar employment-related lawsuits. We advise as well as defend against ADA disability discrimination claims, requests for reasonable accommodations, substance/alcohol abuse and testing matters, privacy issues, federal and state family leave law, trade secrets, non-competition agreements, and more. Corfee Stone also advises employers regarding policies and practices to encourage positive employee relations to potentially avoid litigation.
ADA Handicap Access. Corfee Stone provides advice regarding handicap accessibility to owners and operators of businesses, i.e., including landlord and tenants. Your building can also be surveyed for compliance with federal and state disabled access codes. We have significant knowledge regarding state and federal disabled access codes including, but not limited to, restrooms, parking lots, path of travel issues, interior and exterior access, etc. See our case list for only some of the types of client business we have represented. Fair Housing Law. Corfee Stone defends homeowner associations, apartment housing, etc. regarding tenants and/or homeowners issues. We have successfully defended, advised and trained housing accommodations in this area.
By exclusively focusing these 3 niche areas of law, we provide excellent legal services unmatched by others. There is a lot of cross-over with all three civil rights disciplines that give us special knowledge to be creative and advocate the correct legal position in cases. Our firm has prevailed many many times, and Ms. Corfee has published case law, which many attorneys never achieve in their life time. She has also represented Fortune 500 business, including the State of California. Her clients definitely consist of smaller businesses as well.
Ms. Corfee graduated from Cal Berkely (undergraduate) and McGeorge School of law. She worked for 2 Federal Judges in the Federal Eastern District Court of California. She is licensed to practice in all courts in California.
