In 1983, The Black Mountain Dance Centre opened a one room studio in Rancho Penasquitos with a handful of students and very high hopes. Our goal was to offer superior training in classical ballet, the root of all theatrical dance forms. We wanted to play a major role in building a high quality, home grown arts product in our community. We knew that this could occur only if we committed to providing daily training by the best instructors in San Diego.
In 1990, the BMDC moved to larger quarters in Carmel Mountain Ranch. We offer a wide range of dance instruction. Many of our alumni have joined major dance companies or have graduated from dance departments of major universities. Our "Teacher Training" has also produced excellent results.
Whether dancers come to BMDC to have fun or to train for a professional career, they receive the same instruction. The discipline, good manners, commitment, sense of style, poise and self confidence developed or reinforced while studying classical dance will last a lifetime.
Our mission it to provide training in a supportive environment for both aspiring professionals and enthusiastic amateur students.

The Black Mountain Dance Centre office hours are from 3:00 pm till 7:00 pm Monday thru Friday and 9:00 am till Noon on Saturdays.
