Welcome Back, Marat! We are excited to announce that Marat Daukayev will be relocating back to Los Angeles from Washington, D.C. and will teach classes this Fall to Levels 5, 6, and Adults. Please join us at MDSB as it promises to be a wonderful year with Marat!
New students should contact Ashley James at 323-965-0333 to arrange a placement class OR new students can attend a scheduled class and discuss placement afterward with the teacher.
We welcome students at any age! And its not a prerequisite to begin in our pre-ballet program. Check out the Classes Page to determine approximate class placement. Our youngest class for tiny dancers is called Creative Movement, and your child must be three years old in order to enroll.
Save The Dates: We will present four performances of The Nutcracker at the Japan America Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, on December 11th and 12th. Show times are: Saturday, Dec. 11th at 2pm and 7pm. Sunday, Dec. 12th at 12 noon and 4pm.

Throughout the year, our students work hard to acquire classical ballet technique. In performance, they have the chance to express their love of dance for a live audience. Sharing Nutcracker is an exceptional experience for participants and audience alike, performed by beginning students who are 3 yrs old up to our advanced dancers at 18 years old. This is a wonderful way to introduce your family to one of the most beloved classical ballets of all time.
The first ever National Dance Day was held on July 31, 2010 to celebrate the art of dance and its positive impact on health and self-esteem. The goal is to inspire everyone to get up and dance. National Dance Day was officially recognized by congress thanks to Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton. Summer Intensive 2011 Program
The MDSB Summer Intensive Program is designed to rapidly advance the serious student in technique and performance ability. Class sizes are small and students receive individual attention and coaching at all levels. The program is open to students of the school from ages 7 to 18 years old. Applicants who are not students of the school are asked to take a placement class. (Please call the school for details).
The program offers classes in those dance forms most essential to students preparing for a professional career in ballet. The program runs for six weeks and culminates in an Open Class Showing. Students may take less than the full six weeks, but must attend at least the last four weeks if they wish to dance in the Open Class Showing.
