Our Summer in Tehran Pre-release showing by the Jewish-American
filmmaker Justine Shapiro
Imagine Justine Shapiro, a Jewish American filmmaker, taking her six-year-old son Mateo to Tehran, the capital of Iran!-What follows is a full-length film documenting them getting to know three Iranian families from very different backgrounds: a modern, secular family; a single mom raising a boy Mateo’s age; and a traditional, religious family. With one month left on her visa, Justine is suddenly given forty-eight hours to leave the country. The film shows that, in Iran, everyday life is never separate from the ever-watchful eye of the government. The film will be followed by a Q & A session with the filmmaker.
