Avia Travel was established in 1987 by VIA (formerly Volunteers in Asia/Trans-Pacific Exchange), a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing understanding between the United States and Asia. Since 1963, VIA has provided Americans with an opportunity to work and live within an Asian culture while meeting the needs of Asian host institutions. Avia Travel began as VIA's travel desk, located in its Stanford University offices. Eventually Avia Travel moved off-campus to better serve students, faculty and the general public seeking creative, affordable fares. Avia Travel is now independent of VIA; we still support VIA's mission in spirit and continues working with many educational as well as non profit and non governmental organizations.
We offer so much more than discounted fares. We have wonderful inclusive programs for the independent traveler. We are proud of our partners for all the small group programs as these where possible; travel responsibly and sensitively with regards to the local environment. Together with our trusted land operators in Asia we offer many years of expertise, competitive rates and service especially for travel to China, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and now, Sri Lanka.
Our international staff and management are well traveled, and are ready to assist you with all aspects of your trip. In this age of Skype, instant messaging, Facebook, etc, the physical location of a travel agency is far less important than its ability to provide knowledgeable, prompt and caring services.
