After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.” 2 Chronicles 20:21

It is a powerful image in 2 Chronicles of men heading into battle with the name of the Lord on their lips in praise for his greatness. My prayer is that we approach each day with our thoughts turned to our heavenly father in gratitude for His love for us, His guidance, and His protection.
Last month juniors and seniors attended a weekend Bible Conference at Leoni Meadows. In talking with them about their experiences, I heard the word “awesome” more than once. Several students commented on the dating and integrity in relationships seminar where they heard an important message: “just remember that relationships in high school most likely won’t last, so don’t give everything away. Help your Christian brothers and sisters stay modest and pure.”
The seminar on Bible study also made an impression on students. “I like the way the instructor dissected the story of Jesus and Zacchaeus,” a senior told me. “It showed me how to look more in-depth at a Bible story.”
On October 31, students from kindergarten through high school participated in our annual Fall Festival with games and contests and fantastic food. This event is one of the most popular all year, and brings school family and friends from the community together for a good time.
Service continues to be an focus at RAA. Third and fourth graders are holding a blanket drive this month, and freshman and sophomores are involved in a dog-a-thon to benefit the Shasta County Animal Shelter, a diaper drive for CareNet Pregnancy Center, baking goods for Breast Cancer Awareness, and making iPod and camera cases to purchase sleeping nets for kids in Africa. Once a month high school students take lunches around town for the homeless.
We are all looking forward to the Thanksgiving break. Let’s be sure to take the time to reflect on all the blessings from our heavenly Father.
