Yule,(pronounced EWE-elle, from the Anglo Saxon yula or wheel), also known as Solstice Night or Midwinter, falls on the winter solstice somewhere between December 20 and December 23, depending on the astronomical year . This night is the longest of the year, and from this night, forward the days become longer and stronger until Beltaine.
Though this is the longest night of the year, we welcome the beginning of the waxing light with feasting and celebration. Homes are decorated with holly, mistletoe, and evergreen, all symbols of fertility and the continuity of life. The Yule log was central to the festivities, the burning of which was to hurry the return of the Sun. Traditionally the Yule log must be either harvested from ones own land, or given as a gift; never bought. It was then decorated with evergreen and set ablaze with a piece of last years log which had been kept for just this purpose.
As we contemplate the coming light half of the year, we give thanks for the things that we have, and give aid to those who are alone or in need. This is a time for hope and healing, and for planning for the year ahead. This is also a good time for long term workings for prosperity and happiness with the waxing of the Sun in the year to come.
The Wheel has turned, and one of the Great Mysteries is now realized as the Crone becomes once again the Great Mother Goddess, giving birth in a burst of glory to the Bright Son, bringing with him hope and happiness for the burgeoning year.

This workshop is a praise-ritual to both the Earth as our Mother of Origin, and spiraling both outward and inward to bring focus and reverence to All-Things that are - and are therefore sacred. The Cosmos, each of us, a heartbeat, a petal, a grain of sand - all are holy and part of Self and Being. This ritual aids the participant in realising the sacred truth of As Above, So Below, and helps each of us gain a strong perspective of Self and Being.
Gede Parma is a Witch, initiated Priest and award-winning author. Gede is a keen student of natural health therapies with a deep interest in herbal healing and nutrition and is currently studying a Bachelor of Health Science in these fields. Author of the popular book - Crafting a Magical Life - Carol Holaday shares her family tree with the sleeping prophet, Edgar Cayce, through her great grandmother Edna Brown. A 1988 graduate of Texas Tech University and certified teacher, artist and writer, Carol has long been interested in the magical aspects of folk craft traditions, particularly those that involve crystals and minerals. Carol has written many articles on the spiritual and magical uses of crystals and stones for the international monthly online magazine, Planetlightworker, for whom she also writes an exclusive monthly forecast called the Crystal Star Oracle. Currently Carol resides in San Diego, California where, along with husband Chris, she owns a crystal and magical crafts business called Wisdom Crystals and teaches spiritual and metaphysical classes on a monthly basis.

You’re invited to attend an open study group lead by Kathy Cybele and hosted by Tree of Life. We meet once a month on the 3rd Thursday from 7-9pm. You can join at any time and feel free to attend only the gatherings that work for you. Fee is only $5 per session. Hare Hallow was created to be a place where pagans can grow both spiritually and personally. At Hare Hallow we will share the joy of the seasons as we dance the Wheel of the Year and we will grow as we bathe in the light of the full moon. We will also continue the work through classes and reading.

Kathy Cybele was raised in an Irish household where her mother filled her days with fairytales, Brownies (both the chocolate and the small mischievous kind) and magick. Thus, when Kathy found the path of Witchcraft in 1988, she knew she had come home. In 1992 Kathy joined a Celtic/Garderian coven, received her degrees, and was elevated to the rank of elder and High Priestess.
