Dr. Leigh Gallegos and Dr. Greg Gallegos are both California natives who graduated from Kansas State University Veterinary School. After living and working in the Midwest for 12 years, they moved back to California to be close to family. Dr. Leigh has been practicing veterinary medicine for 17 years and Dr. Greg has been practicing veterinary medicine for 9 years.
The two Gallegos children are very active in sports and music. Logan, who is 15 years old, is very active in the Boy Scouts and plans to become an Eagle Scout in the near future. He is participating in band this year and having a great time. He and his sister Jessie, who is 6 years old, want to be Veterinarians when they grow up.
The entire Gallegos family enjoys camping with the Boy Scouts, visiting the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, caring for their wide variety of pets, reading all kinds of books and playing games. The Antelope Valley has been home and workplace for nine years. During that time the doctors have enjoyed serving the needs of pet owners from Mojave to Agua Dulce, Juniper Hills to Neenach. They love the wonderful proximity of the Antelope Valley to so many great places to explore in Southern California and the great schools for the children.
We are delighted that Patrick, Jose, Rachelle and Moira have continued to assist us in providing care for you and your pets and we welcome Lisa and Willie to the staff. Our congratulations to Jose on his successful completion of undergraduate courses at Cal State Northridge and we are pleased that Moira is continuing to make such wonderful progress in her studies at AV College and feel that she will be an excellent interpreter.

Pets scheduled for anesthetic procedures are generally to be dropped off between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., and picked up the next day during those hours unless other arrangements have been made. If your pet has not had an examination with our clinic within the past two weeks, a pre-surgical examination appointment is to be scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Most pets are held overnight to ensure that they have fully recovered from the sedation or anesthesia. It is absolutely essential that a pet undergoing anesthesia be on an empty stomach to avoid the risk of aspiration pneumonia from breathing in vomitus. Please inform us if your pet has had ANY food or water in the hours prior to dropoff so that we do not inadvertently risk him or her losing their life over an avoidable risk.
Those pets who are alert enough to be released on the same day will be discharged at the discretion of the veterinarian in charge of the case. Overnight monitoring is available through the auspices of the Animal Emergency Clinic and additional fees will be assessed.
