Humboldt Waste Management Authority (HWMA) is committed to safe and efficient disposal of waste generated in Humboldt County, California.
We operate a transfer station and a household hazardous waste collection facility in Eureka and sponsor mobile household hazardous waste collection events throughout Humboldt County. We work with local garbage companies, recycling centers and others to reduce, reuse, recycle and safely dispose of the waste generated in our community.
Curbside garbage collection is available in Arcata, Blue Lake, Eureka, Ferndale, McKinleyville, Rio Dell, Trinidad and in areas surrounding these communities. HWMA does not provide or oversee any curbside collection services. For service requests please contact your local service provider listed on our curbside collection page.
Curbside recycling is offered in Arcata and Eureka. Please see our curbside collection page and contact your local provider for more information.
You can often recycle many more materials at local recycling centers than you can at curbside. You can also get CRV refunds at many local CRV buy-backs. Please see humboldtrecycling.org for detailed information on specific materials and where they can be recycled locally.
