What is this faith that I must have, and how have others been able to please God as I want to do? See the vital answers the writer gives me here!
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. 3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. 4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks. 5 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, "and was not found, because God had taken him"; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (NKJV)
So faith means being sure of all that God is who created the entire universe by his spoken word, and of his promise that in Jesus Christ I can have my sins forgiven! And by this faith I can be sure that by God’s grace I can live so as to please him as these people in the past did by believing and doing his will! So faith is believing all that God teaches me in the Bible, and trusting in all of his promises, and obeying all the commandments and teachings he gives me in the Bible! Faith, then, is the only way that I can be with God in spite of my weaknesses and sins. Therefore, today and every day I will go on believing in all that God is, and his amazing promise of the eternal reward in heaven, and doing his will with all of my heart!
In Galatians 5:22, the Bible declares, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance...". These are the qualities that we continually strive for at the Vacaville church of Christ as we worship and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. We would like to thank you for visiting with us and pray that your visit with us is both inspirational and educational. If we can be of service to you in any way, please let us know.
If you are looking for a new church home, we would like you to prayerfully consider the Vacaville church of Christ. We are not a denomination or a man made institution, but we are simply Christians following the New Testament as our guide for life and godliness.
Jesus said in John 4:23, "...the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth." As you worship with us, you will find that we do so according to the New Testament to include: Singing (Eph 5:19), Praying (1 Tim 2:1-2), Observing the Lord's Supper (Acts 20:7), Giving (1 Cor 16:1-2), and Preaching (Acts 2:42).
Jesus also said in John 13:35, "By This shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." No doubt you will find that the Vacaville church of Christ is a very loving and caring group of people.
