Advent and Christmas
Even as we prepare for Thanksgiving, our minds are undoubtedly already turning toward the Christmas season. While the world rushes into holiday preparations, the church enters the season of Advent beginning November 28, a time of intentional waiting and preparation that increases the joy of the Christmas season once it is here. We invite you to join us for the four Sundays of Advent: November 28 and December 5, 12 and 19, and give yourself some space in the holiday rush to breathe, to wait and to anticipate joy. Here are some special planned services and activities:
Alternative Gift Market -- held Dec. 5 and 12 from 11 am until 1 pm in Angus Hall. An opportunity to purchase Christmas and holiday gifts that serve to help those in need around the world.
Service of Lessons and Carols -- Our 10 am service on Dec. 12 will be a service of Advent Lessons and Carols, featuring the Adult Choir and Bell Choir. A favorite Trinity tradition.
Breakfast in Bethlehem -- From 9:30 am to Noon on Saturday, Dec 18. Children of all ages are invited to join us for food and fun. A way for children to engage with the Christmas story while parents have some time to themselves or to finish their Christmas shopping!
Christmas at Trinity
We will offer three Christmas Eve services:
4:00 pm -- A Children's Communion Service featuring the Christmas Pageant as the Sermon
6:00 pm -- Celebration of the Holy Eucharist with the Festival Choir
9:30 pm -- Carol Sing
10:00 pm -- Celebration of the Holy Eucharist with the Festival Choir
On Christmas Day, we will have a Celebration of Holy Eucharist at 10:00 am with hymns.
Each service will be about an hour. Please join us!
"Following Jesus Today: A Day with Diana Butler Bass" is the next Trinity Conference on Saturday, January 22 from 8:45 AM to 2:00 PM.
Is there a vital future for Christianity in America?
Every recent survey of American religious practice shows that conventional religion is in serious decline; at the same time, people express high levels of enthusiasm for spirituality. Polls show that "none of the above" and "spiritual but not religious" are the fastest growing religion categories in North America. What do these trends really mean? How do they impact our lives? Can we learn from the spiritual longings in our culture? During this event, we'll explore the big picture of how religion is changing and the dimensions of emerging spirituality as well as what those changes might mean to our own journeys, faith communities, and politics.
The cost for the event will be $25, and includes lunch.

This Sunday, Nov. 21.....
Our 8 am service will be held in the Chapel. This service is very traditional, and includes a sermon, Communion and minimal music.
Our 9 am Adult Forum will be the last session of our presentation and discussion of Richard Stearns' book, "A Hole in Our Gospel." The Forum meets in the Library in Trinity Hall.
Our 10 am service is held in the church, and uses a cycle of services each month with somewhat different liturgical and musical styles. This week, the third Sunday of the month, our service has a more contemplative flavor, using music from the Taiz tradition.
Wherever you find yourself in your spiritual journey, we welcome you to join us.
Welcome to Trinity
Since 1884 the extended family of Holy Trinity Church has been praying, worshiping, celebrating life and living the gospels here in Menlo Park. The people of Trinity, spanning generations and religious backgrounds, are today exploring how to live "in Christ" in this very modern time and place. We'd love to have you with us
Read about us on this site, call us at 326-2083, or just drop in for a Sunday service. You are always welcome.
