This is a tale of coming-of-age, finding where you belong, and figuring out how to switch a fake baby for a real one under the nose of one seriously screwed-up fairy queen. The perfect book to read on those cold, winter-y October nights. The creeping (and creepy) atmosphere never lets up, and there's a wicked sense of humor throughout.

A Benefit for Breast Cancer Connections
America's most delightfully unconventional hostess and the bestselling author of I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influencedelivers a new book that will forever change the world of crafting. According to Sedaris, it's often been said that ugly people craft and attractive people have sex. In her new book, SIMPLE TIMES, she sets the record straight. Demonstrating that crafting is one of life's more pleasurable and constructive leisure activities, Sedaris shows that anyone with a couple of hours to kill and access to pipe cleaners can join the elite society of crafters.
Sedaris is a comedienne, playwright and actress. In the early 90s, Sedaris performed in the legendary Chicago comedy troupes Second City and Annoyance Theatre. Sedaris best-known character is Jerri Blank, a middle-aged, former prostitute-turned-high-school student, featured on the cult series (and then movie) Strangers with Candy. Under the name The Talent Family, she and her brother David Sedaris have written and produced several envelope-pushing plays including Stitches and One Woman Shoe.

Shocked by a murder-suicide on his street, journalist Peter Lovenheim resolves to break down the barriers isolating him from his neighbors. He invites himself to sleep over at their houses to answer a thought-provoking question: do neighborhoods matter, and is something lost when we live as strangers next door?

Lovenheim has written for the New York Times, USA Today and New York Magazine and has appeared on NPR, Larry King Radio and more than 50 other radio and TV programs. The screen rights to In the Neighborhood were recently purchased by Julia Roberts production company.

Widely known for his memoir and nonfiction on the Armenian genocide, Peter Balakian is also an accomplished poet, and Ziggurat is his first book of poems in nine years. Exploring history, self, and imagination, as well as his ongoing concerns with catastrophe and trauma, many of Balakians new poems wrestle with the aftermath and reverberations of 9/11.
Whether reliving the building of the World Trade Towers in the inventive 43-section poem that anchors the book, walking the ruins of the Bosnian National Library in Sarajevo, meditation on Andy Warhol's silk screens, or considering the confluence of music, language, and memory, Balakian continues his meditations on history, as well as the harshness and beauty of contemporary life, that his readers have enjoyed over the years.
Peter Balakian is the Donald M. and Constance H. Rebar Professor in Humanities and professor of English at Colgate University. He is the author of five books of poems and three prose works, including The Burning Tigris: The Armenian Genocide and Americas Response, a New York Times best seller, and Black Dog of Fate, a memoir.

NONOBJECT BUY NOW
Product design meets philosophy, poetry, and the theater of the imagination.
The objective world is one of facts, data, and actuality. The world of the nonobject is about perception, experience, and possibility. In this highly original and visually extravagant book, Branko Lukic (an award-winning designer) and Barry Katz (an authority on the history and philosophy of design) imagine what would happen if design started not from the object but from the space between people and the objects they use. The nonobject, they explain, is the designers personal experiment to explore our relation to the observable world.
Branko Lukic is the originator and creator of the Nonobject design philosophy. Branko is founder and principal of NONOBJECT Studio in Palo Alto, (www.nonobject.com), which provides design innovation solutions and strategic consulting services to established companies, nonprofit organizations, and startups worldwide. He holds many patents and has won numerous awards. He teaches in the Product Design Program at Stanford University and has lectured at universities, conferences, and design exhibitions around the world.

Barry Katz helped to articulate the philosophy of the Nonobject. Barry is Professor of Design at the California College of the Arts, Consulting Professor at Stanford University, and Fellow at IDEO, Inc. He is the author, with Tim Brown, of Change By Design: How Design Thinking can Transform Organizations and Inspire Innovation, and Tectonic Shift: The Unstable History of Silicon Valley Design.
