Probate is the court administered process of distributing a deceased person's (also referred to as the decedent) estate or assets according to a will if one exists or, if there is no will, to the person's immediate spouse / children / siblings / relatives. This process generally takes approximately six to nine months to complete.

The executor of a Last Will and Testament, also called the personal representative, is responsible for the administration of the decedent's probate estate or financial affairs. That process includes collecting the decedent's assets, paying or negotiating any debts or taxes owed, filing the decedent's final tax returns and inventory.

Estate Planning is the process whereby a person develops a plan and prepares documents to conserve, protect, and distribute estate assets before and after death for the benefit of loved ones and charities, taking into consideration the effect of state and federal tax and administrative laws and regulations. It can also involve planning for the use of your assets for your care if you become unable to manage your affairs during your lifetime.

Attorney Cohen has been practicing since 1990 in all facets of civil litigation, probate, insolvency and real estate. He created this firm in 1995 and has chosen to concentrate on his probate practice with an emphasis in real estate.
Mr. Cohen completed his undergraduate schooling at Boston University. At Boston University, Mr. Cohen achieved a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an accounting concentration and graduated with magna cum laude honors. He then attended Loyola Law School in Los Angeles where he graduated and received his Jurist Doctorate.
