Burton, Schmal & DiBenedetto, LLP, was initially founded in 1997, as a successor firm to Gassett, Perry & Frank, where John Burton, Tim Volkmann and Tim Schmal had practiced together for fifteen years. After John, Tim and Tim practiced together another eleven years as Burton, Volkmann & Schmal, LLP, Tim Volkmann was appointed, by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, to serve as a Santa Cruz County Superior County judge. Upon Mr. Volkmann’s departure, John Burton and Tim Schmal welcomed Anna DiBenedetto, who had initially joined the firm as an associate, into the firm’s partnership.
