Santa Cruz Memorial Mission Chapel and Oakwood Chapel have served the community since 1862. Over a century ago, the Santa Cruz Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge purchased a beautiful parcel of land that borders the San Lorenzo River. The IOOF carried on a tradition of providing dignified funeral ceremonies which began in the English Guilds of long ago. According to legend, a group of caring people assured that orphans and peasants received proper burial. Countrymen thought this quite odd, hence the name "Odd Fellows". The Odd Fellowship endeavors to help those in need and we are pledged, according to an old saying, rooted in the origins of the membership, to "visit the sick, relieve the distressed, bury the dead and educate the orphan".
You will find solace in a place where history, beauty and dignity quietly reside. Each family may differ but all families share a need for compassion and kindness. Santa Cruz Memorial meets your needs with memorial services in our Mission Chapel, mausoleum and burial park. We can assist in providing memorial services and simple cremation arrangements, and because we are non- sectarian, coordinate traditional services in your place of worship. Both Santa Cruz Memorial and Oakwood Memorial Chapel are combination funeral homes and cemeteries offering convenience, complete arrangements through one person, no subcontracted services and economy. Our funeral homes serve all cemeteries, regardless of where the final resting place will be.
