This month we pause in prayer and gratitude to honor our beloved loved ones. Each of our parishes will have the names of all our loved ones on our parish altars, in books of memory or in our parish bulletins. Each name represents a person, relative or friend who has made a difference in our lives. These are the men, women and children who have been a part of our lives some for a very long time and others, unfortunately, for too short a time.
On All Souls Day, November 2nd, we will remember our loved ones but let us continue to remember the impact they have made in our lives. Each of them have been gifts from our God, and each has allowed us to deepen our faith and love for one common Creator, God who loves us and never leaves us lonely.

Forty high school youth attended the annual Serra Leadership Institute this summer. Youth, from parishes around the diocese, gathered at Camp St. Francis in Aptos, for 5 days of leadership development, fun, prayer, and pastoral planning. As a foundation, each participant took the Gallup Strengths Finder survey, to learn about their own God given talents. Then throughout the week, participants learned how to work with others, using everyones talents along with their own. Next years Institute is scheduled for June 27- July 1.
