The crab fishing is still going great out here in Santa Cruz. There were some big Vermilion's caught near Davenport. There were some Humbolt Squid caught at 36'47/122'04 in 800-1000 feet of water. The Rock fishing is still open until this weekend and it closes on Nov. 15. There were a few Sea bass caught in Monterey and a few reported near Davenport.

The winds are calm and the fish are on the bite up the coast. The crab fishing is still going great for the anglers in 220 feet of water up the coast. There has been limits of Rock fish reported and crab as big as 8 inches.

The crab fishing was great on Saturday with calm seas and easy limits in 220 feet of water near 5 Mile and Davenport. The Squid fishing is still going good in the canyons. The swells and wind came up ion Sunday but it is settling down today.

The crab season started today and anglers found some good action up the coast near 5 Mile Beach. The crabbing seems to be best in 200-230 feet of water. The winds were down all day today but there was a small swell that is dropping. The Rock fishing was decent up the coast near Franklin Point. The Sea bass fishing was slow today. The Humbolt Squid are still being caught in the canyon.

There were some anglers out for Rock fish today at Franklin Point who did well. The water was flat calm all day long with a small rolling swell. The clouds are moving in and we may have a calm before the storm on Sunday. There are still some Sea bass being caught in Monterey down 30-100 feet down drifting squid. There were some Humbolt Squid caught in the Soquel Canyon down 700-800 feet down.

The winds are staying down but the swell has been building slowly. There were not many boats out today even with the sunny weather. The Sea bass are still hit and miss in Monterey but there have been a few lucky anglers who get 4-6 fish. The Sea bass are being caught fly lining and drifting Squid 80-120 feet down. We have some nice crab pots for sale for the opening day on Nov. 6. The Rock fishing is open until Nov. 15.

The winds were up today in the morning due to the rain. The sun did come out in the afternoon and there were a few fish caught today. The Rock fishing was decent up the coast near 4 Mile Beach. The Sea bass fishing was slower today but there were a few caught.

The wind never came up today even though the N.O.A.A. forecast was for angry seas. There were not many anglers out here today but there has been some good Rock fishing near the Mile Buoy and near Natural Bridges. There were some Sea bass caught in Monterey.

I was off for a few days but there has been some good action on the Rock fish up the coast. There has been some nice Halibut coming in form 50-65 feet of water from 5 Mile to Davenport. The Sea bass bite got a little better with some scores ranging from 1-10 fish a boat. The fish are being caught as little deeper near the point of Monterey. We should have fresh Squid today!

The water was flat calm all day today and the fishing was good. There were some Halibut caught near Davenport in 50-65 feet of water. The Rock fishing is still going good for the anglers working near Natural Bridges and 4 Mile Beach. The Franklin Point area is still producing some nice Rock fish and Lingcod. There were a few Sea Bass caught in Monterey and one on the west side of Santa Cruz.

The fishing for Rock fish was good near the Mile Buoy for Vermilion's and some small Lingcod. The Franklin Point area was good for Rock fish limits. The Davenport area still is producing a few nice Halibut in 45-65 feet of water. The winds were down today but there was some off and on drizzle. The Sea Bass is still slow but a few have been caught in Monterey. Come enjoy the late season Rock fishing because it tends to be the best time of year for them. We have crab pots for sale just like last years model. The crab season is coming up soon so get ready.

The inshore fishing was good today with flat calm seas all morning but there was some afternoon wind. I went fishing near Davenport today for Halibut and caught 3 fish in 50-65 feet of water. We were using dead Squid and Anchovies from Boccie Boy. The fish were on the Squid but we did get one nice Halibut on a live Anchovy. The Rock fishing was wide open in 100 feet of water near Davenport but we were not looking for them so we caught and released. We were trying for Sea Bass in the deeper water but did not find any action under the bird life. I did not hear of much action in the Monterey area for the Sea Bass.

I am sorry for the delay on the fish reports but I was off chasing Yellow fin and Marlin in Puerto Vallarta. It was a great trip with perfect weather and good fishing. We ended up fishing four days and caught 43 Yellow fin from 20-90 pounds and 2 Black Marlin from 250-500 pounds. There were a few lucky anglers who did catch a few fish in the 200 pound range but I did not see many cows this time.
The local news was good last week when I left with great scores of Sea Bass being caught in the 25-35 pound range near Monterey. Things have slowed down this week but the full moon may change things. I was updating the web site and I just talked to a angler who had a nice Sea Bass in front of Davenport in 125 feet of water. The angler caught it dropping Squid down on a two hook rig. There was one other boat in the area that may have had one Sea Bass also. The inshore fishing here in Santa Cruz was wide open for Rock fish near the Franklin Point area. There were some good scores of Halibut caught there and some nice Halibut near Davenport. The winds are down and things are looking good for a few days. The Rock fishing has been good near the Mile Buoy still and there are a few Halibut being caught there as well. I have not heard of any anglers who have gone out for Albacore. Boccie Boy has perfect Anchovies for anglers who may want to give it a try!
