Santa Cruz Piano is the only piano tuner/technician owned piano store in Santa Cruz County. Jeffrey Potter has been a full-time technician for over 30 years and in addition to the store he works for the UCSC music department, Montalvo Arts Center, Kuumbwa Jazz Center, and private clientele.
Being technician owned gives us an advantage to the larger "big box" stores in these times of change in our industry. We offer quality restored Steinway and Mason & Hamlin grand pianos from our workshops, and pre-owned Yamaha and vintage American grands and uprights. Being active in the business allows us to select from the many pre-owned pianos offered to us, to procure only the best and work our magic on them.
New pianos include Brodmann and Falcone. The new Asian imports are giving Yamaha and Kawai a run for their money as they can be purchased for as low as half the cost. Would you rather buy a new piano with a 10 year warranty or a 35 year old for the same price? It's up to you! Both are equally valid. That is why we offer them side by side with which to compare.
