Aptos, CA -- Bike Station Aptos, a locally owned and operated bicycle shop in Aptos, CA is proud to announce their endorsement of a grassroots mountain bike and cyclocross team based in Santa Cruz County, Ciclista Bonita.

Ciclista Bonita is a Women focused bicycle racing team located in Santa Cruz, CA. The team is manged and run by Miss Mary Perez, a proponent of women's cycling and pioneer for womens cyclocross in the Bay Area. Miss Mary is joined by a team of cycling advocates including Goldi Jacques-Maynes, Winonia Hubbard, and local freelance writer and photographer Karen Kefauver, author of the well known Santa Cruz Sentinel blog Spin City. The Bici Chicas love bikes and are on a mission to create an inviting atmosphere for ladies to join group rides, engage in forums, and attend clinics designed to help beginner and intermediate riders and racers excel and realize their competitive fitness goals while having fun.

Bike Station Aptos will be their go-to shop for product, service, clinics, and support at most of their races.We are very excited to be in a position as a shop to support a women and junior focused team, and help riders achieve their racing, fitness, and training goals., said Joanne Thompson, owner of the shop. BIKE STATION APTOS CELEBRATES NEW LOCATION WITH GRAND OPENING EVENT
Join the Bike Station team for three days of fun festivities, great prizes, and amazing deals on all inventory including bikes!
to a new home in the Rancho Del Mar shopping center.
To officially kick-off the grand opening of their shop in the Rancho Del Mar Shopping Center, the Bike Station Aptos team will be hosting a Demo and Vendor Day July 10th and 11th at their new location, 36 Rancho Del Mar.

The event will feature the 2011 demo fleet from both Cannondale and downhill bikes from GT, in addition to displays from vendors including Swiftwick, Bell, Giro and Bonk Breaker. There will also be a raffle drawing Sunday, July 11th which will directly benefit the Aptos High School road and mountain bike teams. Prizes include a Medium Cannondale 29er single speed mountain bike, Schwinn Hornet Cruiser, and product from vendors including Swiftwick, Bonk Breaker, Giro and Bell. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the shop now through Sunday, July 11th when the drawing will take place.

Other events held in conjunction with the Grand Opening include an official ribbon cutting at 1 pm on Friday, July 9th put on by the Aptos Chamber of Commerce, in addition to an afterhours party at the shop from 7 9 pm.

We decided to do a large grand opening to celebrate our continued growth, and involvement in the local Santa Cruz cycling community, said Joanne Thompson, owner of Bike Station Aptos since 2004. Our hope with the fundraiser is to give young kids at the high school some much needed support and incentive to follow their dreams and have some competitive fun on the bike. We hope the community rallies around this event, and joins us by celebrating our move with fun activities and good deals on both bikes and bike related goodies throughout the weekend.

The Bike Station Aptos crew is proud to announce their enthusiastic participation in the highly anticipated Rancho Del Mar Sidewalk Sale event held annually over Memorial Day weekend. We are taking advantage of the timing of this event, coinciding with our recent move to the center, and blowing out inventory from our cycling closets," said shop owner Joanne Thompson. "Were doing our spring cleaning, and we hope that the event brings more of the community into our new convenient location.

Bike Station Aptos plans to heavily reduce pricing on tons of road, mountain, and commuter cycling accessories and apparel during the sidewalk sale. So make sure to come check out the great deals they have in the store and on the sidewalk!

To get the shoppers in the mood, there will be live music in the Center food court Saturday and Sunday from 12-4 pm. Featured bands include the Fenton Murray Jazz Ensemble and Wild Blue.

The shop will observe its normal hours of operation: 11 am to 6:30 pm M-F, 10 am to 5 pm on Sat. and 12 4 pm on Sunday. The sale runs Friday through Monday over the long weekend.

Bike Station Aptos has expanded into a new home in the Rancho Del Mar shopping center, previously occupied by Bookworks. The new space is conveniently located near Safeway and Comerica Bank, and provides the perfect complement to great coffee at the Aptos Coffee Roasting Company and the running store Fleet Feet.
