At Yoga of Sausalito, our focus is on quality of instruction, not quantity.
Multiple studios and oversized classes simply do not allow for the quality of instruction and personal attention that is our signature.
The owners are practicing yogis and rehab-specialists. They have carefully selected a teaching staff of yogis who are also physical therapists, doctors of oteopathy, physiotherapists, professional dancers and functional-anatomy specialists.
We are all here to serve you every day.
We offer a full schedule of daily hatha yoga classes focusing on the integration of physical, emotional and spiritual alignment. Come enjoy the vitality and serenity that comes with a regular practice in the company of like-minded community.
ANUSARA® YOGA:
Anusara (a-nu-sa-ra) means flowing with Grace. Founded by John Friend, Anusara Yoga is a hatha yoga system that unifies Universal Principles of Alignment with a non-dual philosophy that is epitomized by a celebration of the heart.
EXPLORATORY MOVEMENT FOR YOGA:
practice draws from Hatha Yoga, Kundalini, Qigong, Taoist Yoga and sound, systematic movement of the human body. The instruction considers the individual needs of every student, and is based on the unique issues of each student's posture, injuries or limitations, mindset, and energy level. In practicing each asana, the student is guided to use the soundest principles of natural movement. The focus is on stability from the inner body (core) so that the outer body can move freely and lengthen. As a result, the body becomes firmer and stronger in the core, bringing ease of movement to the outer body. Blended into the practice is a focus on energy and movement of energy that helps expand and ground rather than contract the body, and consequently, the mind and spirit. Yoga becomes a practice of ease rather than one of stress and effort.
This a gentle, flowing class is designed for the beginner or anybody who is curious about hatha yoga but thinks they cannot do it.
This class is a fusion of styles, drawing elements from Ashtanga and Anusara. A warm, flowing, meditative class harmonizing breathe with movement cultivating strength, balance and flexibility. Students will learn to refine postures and move beyond the limitations of the body and mind.
INTRO TO YOGA:
This is the perfect place to begin exploring the body and building your understanding of basic yoga fundamentals including alignment, breath and meditation.
A safe, gentle style of yoga focused on inward sensing and conscious rebalancing of the body. The term "soma" refers to the body as experienced and directed from within, and Somatic Yoga cultivates within us a sensitive inner awareness and control of our physical state. Through principles of awareness we work directly with the voluntary and involuntary nervous systems to promote healthy alignment and movement patterns. We perform specific movement sequences to engage unconscious reflexes which balance muscle tension and promote muscle lengthening. We also consciously release holding in the body by being mindful of our internal sensations, learning how to inhibit muscle tension and allow greater flexibility and relaxation. While this practice is physically gentle, its effects are profound.
