The League of American Bicyclists has jusrt launched the Bicycle Friendly University program. Three universities are mentioned in their current monthly journal, American Bicyclist, announcing the program. Stanford University is one of them. The photo to the left of Stanford's Sprocketman and a student, with helmet, and a quote by Ariadne Delon Scott, Stanford's Bicycle Program Coordinator, were highlighted in the article. Her quote included "The program will demonstrate the benefits of achieving aspirational levels of bicycle safety and infrastructure ..." which Stanford has achieved. Go to the journal, page 24, for the article. Stanford has been one of the League's Bicycle Friendly Communities for many years. All six of the communities that border the bay from Menlo Park to San Jose are also Bicycle Friendly Communities.

Our shop is right on the Stanford University campus, at our central location in Tresidder Union on White Plaza. Look for the bicycling frogs. We have a full line of bike rentals available for your campus and local area needs and fun. If you are a parent, vistor to the area, a student with short term classes, or an attendee to any of the many Stanford special programs, we have a bike for you. All rental bikes are ready for campus and off-campus biking. You can even experience some of the finest road and mountain biking in the US. A U-lock and helmet are included with all bicycle rentals. Bicycling is the answer for your campus and local area transportation. It gets you around quickly and there is plenty of free on-campus parking convenient to wherever you are going. Walking is doable but time consuming, and parking a car on campus is either near impossible or too expensive. And a bike lets you take advantage of the great bicycling opportunities in the local area. We have a complete line of quality inexpensive bikes to fit your needs. So buy a bike!

The Stanford campus is a great starting point for some of the finest biking in the world - both road and mountain. Hundreds of bike routes and trails are right there for you. Repairs are #1 at the Campus Bike Shop. In addition to providing you the bikes and accessories you need, we are dedicated to providing you complete and quick repairs and other service on your bike. Our large Service staff is ready to quickly address your needs and keep your bike running and available for you. And if your service needs are such that we can't provide on-the-spot or short-time turnaround, we offer you a free loaner bike.

Can somebody steal my bike, or my wheels or seat? Probably if they really want to. But if you take reasonable precautations they will likely look elsewhere. Make sure you have, and use, a U-lock, as shown in the photo, and use additional protection as well. Our Security Package includes our recommendation for minimum protection to discourage a thief. Stop by the shop and we will be pleased to discuss additional options with you. We want to help you make sure your bike will always be there for you.

In addition to our primary customer set, the students at Stanford, the Campus Bike Shop also serves the bicycling needs of the Stanford departments. Our new Stanford Departments Bikes Lease Program is available to all Stanford departments. The program reflects what we have found to be the departments needs based on our many years of experience with them.
