Nic Offer & co. are back for a third full-length on Warp: faster, stronger, and as lush and luxurious as a dub disco throwdown at the Lamborghini factory. Ever since they (along with LCD Soundsystem and the DFA) helped convince the indie-rock world that dance music is not a crime, they've been streamlining their sound and toughening up their drive, transforming themselves into the unstoppable space-disco juggernaut you hear today. Recorded partly in Berlin with DFA producer Eric "Babytalk" Broucek, Strange Weather captures their love of Berlin club sounds, as well as Madchester acid-rave and as always, classic New York no wave stomp. Though the bass is slippy and the stacks of percussion and layers of echo are pure dancefloor nirvana, Offer's hilarious deadpan nonsense rant always anchors !!! in unmistakable indie insincerity.
