Dr. Arlene F. Hoffman has been in private practice in San Francisco since 1978. She is an internationally known leader in the field of podiatric medicine, and has been recognized by her peers with numerous professional awards including the American Podiatric Association’s Meritorious Service Award and being honored as one of “America’s 150 Most Influential Podiatric Physicians”. She is one of 50 podiatrists selected by her peers to belong to the National Academies of Practice, a sister organization to the National Academies of Science. She has served as editor of leading journals of podiatry and continues to publish broadly on key medical topics.
Dr. Hoffman has held distinguished positions in her field, including as a Founding Board Trustee of the American Society of Podiatric Medicine Section of the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine, and served on that Board (formally called the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics, ABPO). She has also served as a Trustee and Vice President of the American Society of Podiatric Dermatology and as President of the American Association for Women Podiatrists. Dr. Hoffman has served for many years as a Podiatric Medicine Residency Program Evaluator for the Council of Podiatric Medical Education. She is a frequent lecturer on topics such as blood flow evaluation, wound healing, and medical treatment for podiatric problems. In addition to her private practice, she has served as Professor of Podiatric Medicine and Basis Sciences at the California College of Podiatric Medicine.
