In June 2010, the City of Hayward City Hall and Utilities Center received certifications as Green Businesses. To achieve this status, the City had to successfully implement green business practices in Solid Waste Reduction and Recycling, Energy Conservation, Water Conservation, Pollution Prevention, and sustainable Purchasing and Procurement practices. The City is actively working to show its responsible environmental stewardship to the community by:

Developing and implementing practices that prevent pollution and waste
Conducting and fostering environmentally responsible business practices within the community
We encourage other Hayward businesses to strive for these goals. Please visit www.greenbiz.ca.gov for more information.
