We take pride in providing outstanding professional services in a friendly setting while maintaining reasonable fees. We hope this site will help answer some of your questions before you come in for your examination or other services.

Because your eyes are so important and because we want to provide you with the best possible care, we encourage you to ask questions any time and to discuss your concerns with us. We are looking forward to serving you and your family.

Dr. John Walker, O.D., a Northern California native, is originally from the village of Mendocino, California. He received his undergraduate education at Sonoma and Humbolt State Universities. Dr. Walker graduated from Southern California College of Optometry with both a B.S. degree in Visual Science, and his Doctor of Optometry ( O.D. ) degree. There, he received awards for outstanding performance in research and ophthalmic dispensing. Dr. Walker has worked in the optometry field for nearly twenty years, entering his second decade as a Doctor of Optometry. Initially, he operated a private practice in his hometown of Mendocino before relocating to Windsor in 1999, where he is in private practice.*

Doctor Walker lives quietly in Windsor with his wife, Nga and no children. In his spare time he works on classic cars.

Generally, patients are seen on an appointment basis, but are also welcomed on a walk-in basis as time and scheduling permits. Although emergencies may be seen anytime during regular office hours, a phone call prior to the visit would be helpful.

If you are unable to keep your appointment, kindly give us at least 24 hours notice so that another patient may make use of your reserved time.

We make every effort to keep all our fees as low as possible. Examination fees, insurance co-payments and deductables are due and payable in full at the time of your visit. Payment may be made by cash, local check, or Mastercard/Visa. No billing is done by this office.

If glasses or contact lenses are ordered, a minimum of 50% of the balance must be paid at the time of ordering, with the remaining balance to be paid when materials are dispensed. Full payment is required when same day service is provided. Any other payment arrangements must be discussed in advance.

We accept most insurance plans with vision coverage. If you have vision care benefits provided through your employment, please notify us at the time of making your appointment, and bring any requested forms or paperwork at the time of your visit to present them to Angie,our insurance specialist.

We also accept many forms of medical coverage which may cover or help cover the cost of your eye exam services.

We are in-network providers for the following insurance plans: Vision Service Plan(VSP), Healthy Families, Healthy Kids, Medical Eye Services(MES), Redwood Health Services(RHS), Blue Cross(BC), SafeGuard, Medicare, Medi-Cal, CMSP, and Superior Vision Services(SVS).

Please remember that it is your responsibility to pay any deductible, co-payment or other balance not covered by your insurance. We will assist you in preparing the necessary forms or claims to submit to your insurance company.

*Dr. John Walker has been a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the California Optometric Association (COA), and the Redwood Empire Optometric Society (REOS), and is in good standing with the California Board of Optometry, and has not been cited, fined or disciplined for any violations or improprieties.
