At the Charles Gracie Academy, you will receive the highest level of training and personalized attention directly by a senior member of the famous Gracie family of Jiu-Jitsu teachers and fighters who did so much to change the shape the current state of martial arts instruction in America. We are serious about our craft and it is from my family's pride that we develop our students into highly skilled fighters and self-defense practitioners.
Classes at the academy are taught six days a week and we have classes for men, women and children. They feature a strength and endurance building warm-up, followed by demonstration and practice of techniques after which students engage in live wrestling with other students of their own level. It is a truly demanding workout with a strongly cerebral aspect and a sense of purpose and skill that will truly capture your imagination.
All the way on the other side of the interest spectrum is the competitive world of BJJ tournaments as well as open grappling tournaments. Gracie academy students have excelled in every competition from local events all the way up to the Mundial or World Championship and US National and Regional BJJ and grappling tournaments.
Finally there is the ultra-competitive world of MMA or Mixed Martial Arts. Our academies are now experiencing an influx of high school and college athletes from sports like wrestling and football, and even soccer. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is beyond an absolute must for any person who dreams of entering the world of MMA events. Without mastering the techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, along with other Martial arts such as karate, judo, and kickboxing, they have no ability to truly and effectively compete in MMA.
The academy is run with a family-like atmosphere. Our camaraderie extends from lessons, to sparring sessions, to team tournaments and friendships. The highly proficient nature of our fighting technique requires that students pay special attention to safety when practicing. This will prevent unnecessary injuries, as well as helping to make the experience enjoyable for all students.
