Welcome to Kirkpatrick's School of Dance bringing dance to the San Francisco Peninsula for over 50 years. From the very youngest beginning at age 3, our program can take your child as far as they want to go in dance. Our school is special because all students matter and whether dance is just a hobby or a life goal, we teach with the same approach. Our 3 year olds through 6 year olds are offered a combination of ballet, and tap with age appropriate exercises. At age 7, they can begin to pursue the style of dance that most interests them. Offering ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and modern gives our students many options. Our teachers are experienced professionals with college degrees in dance and Cecchetti ballet certification. All of our pre-school classes are staffed with two teachers and class size limits to ensure the students are given the proper attention required to learn dance. We share our love of dance through a fine balance of disclipline and compassion. We are proud to say that many of our teachers grew up at Kirkpatrick's as dancers and are back to share their love of dance.

Our staff provides excellent instruction for every category, from pre-school to adult. The successful Pre-School program offers "Tiny Dancer" classes for 3 year olds and Pre-school 1, 2 or Kinderdance for 4-5 year olds. Each one hour class offers instruction in pre-ballet, pre-tap and tumbling/mat work.

Our upper level classes are divided into three categories: ballet, tap and jazz. Our ballet department focuses on proper technique, body alignment and placement, flexibility and strength. Our Jazz department is very unique in that our instructors teach diverse styles of jazz. Students learn technique from Broadway, Fosse, classical, lyrical, modern, and hip-hop. Our tap department teaches a sophisticated and classic style with strong foundation technique. Each student will not only learn the basic fundamentals of tap, but also fine tune their rhythm and learn musicality.

Our mission is to offer our students a school that builds strong technique and self-confidence with professional level teachers. We are also committed to offer all students many opportunities to perform. Dance is a performing art and we feel that a true dance education is not complete without this element.

Our staff consists of highly trained professionals with college degrees in dance, as well as certification through the Cecchetti Ballet Council of America. Our summer session is available to students who wish to dance year-round. Our "Little Stars" summer workshop meets twice a week and is designed for 3-5 year olds. We offer summer classes in July from 4:00-8:00pm.
