The J. Marklee Toll Station Motel is a friendly, family run motel and restaurant offering clean, comfortable accommodation and home cooking in the beautiful Eastern Sierra village of Markleeville, California. Both lodging and restaurant have been owned and operated by Sandy Matlock since 1990.

Markleeville sits 28 miles south of Lake Tahoe on the banks of Wolf Creek where it joins with the East Fork of the Carson River. It is the seat of Alpine County, the least populated county in California, with just 1100 residents (your eyes are not fooling you).

Surrounded by mountains, beautiful forests and pristine lakes it's an ideal base for year round recreation such as Hiking, Fishing, Cycling, Snow Sports, Hunting, Rafting, Mountain Climbing and Landscape Photography.

We have nicely appointed rooms with showers and cable television. A gas barbecue is available as well as large lawns in the front and back with beautiful vistas perfect for picnics. One room is available for pets. VISA and MasterCard accepted.

Breakfast and lunch are available at the J. Marklee Toll Station restaurant every day during the summer and Friday through Monday in the winter. Espresso is available year round. Sack lunches may be ordered. Other restaurants in the village are the Cutthroat Bar and Restaurant and the Deli Company. Sorensen's Resort restaurant is twelve miles east on Highway 88.
Gas and Supplies
The Markleeville General Store down the street has everything and gas is available 24/7 across from the J. Marklee Toll Station restaurant. The gas pumps are automated and accept only credit cards.
