Health Insurance Rate Increases
Recently Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of California informed subscribers of upcoming rate increases starting October 1, 2010. In our commitment to provide quality customer service we have been tracking these changes closely.
While rate increases are an occasional occurrence in the insurance industry the current rate adjustments are being made to reflect price inflation for medical services, cost-shifting from the under and un-insured, compliance to government regulations including the recently enacted health care reform legislation, and advances in medical technology and subsequent increases in utilization.
Anthem Blue Cross Clients:Anthem is currently working to update rate/plan changes and anticipate release of this information after September 18th. This only leaves three days to make any plan changes. If you are interested in continuing your current coverage as is, not action is needed at this time. Please contact me to set up an appointment time on either September 20th, 21st or 22nd.

Mildred McGillicuddy was asking me today about how to insure her tomatoes and apricot orchard, which she had growing on ten acres of wonderful soil. She also had a coup full of chickens, two milking cows in her barn, and two lawn-eating goats. The worm farm was doing well, what with all the leftovers from the delicious meals she had prepared for her husband and eight children. The compost pile was healthy and hot. She had a lovely home, built in 2001, with solar and wind energy. A good John Deere tractor and other assorted farm implements were protected for damage and liability.
In the visit of one morning, we assessed her situation and were able to protect her home, her crops, the products from her chickens, goats and cows and the transportation of her products to the market. The insurance cost her pennies on the dollar and she said, "My goodness! You keep it simple!" She shared a wonderful ham sandwich with fresh lemonade with me and I was on my way back to town with my laptop and a bag of freshly-dried apricots.
We are writing some flood insurance between the government allowing us to do so and taking it away. Earthquake insurance is pretty popular and now recreational vehicles are the hot things. Please call me with your recreational vehicles and summer rentals and we will keep it simple! ~ Judy
List pertinent information concerning what type of vehicle you drive, where you drive, who else drives, what your driving record is, where you live, what optional safety features your car has. This profile will make the next step easier.
Many states require drivers to carry a proof-of-insurance card with them when driving. Ask your insurer for a card, and keep it in your wallet or in your car.
Most states require you to carry a minimum amount of liability coverage. Many states have "no-fault" auto insurance systems. Coverage for medical costs for you and your passengers is optional in some states. Coverage for damage to your car is optional.
