Thanks for visiting this site! As a licensed therapist in Lafayette, California, I do many things: from working with Individuals and Families, to facilitating Men's Groups and presenting workshops to schools and organizations. I have written articles for publications and have trained future therapists. I've taught graduate classes at Cal State Hayward and guest-lectured at UC Berkeley. I frequently consult with peers and am a Clinical Member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT).
While I have seen individuals and families from many diverse populations and for a large number of presenting problems, my passion is working with people who are in some sort of transition, change or period of growth.
My theoretical orientation is Eclectic, meaning I use interventions from a number of theories, but I primarily follow an Existential and Humanistic perspective. This is not only how I work as a therapist, but how I view the world as well.
In addition to my Clinical Training which has included many years of supervised training and education, I bring my own life experiences to this work. My sense is that a therapist benefits from having personal experiences and living through the ups and downs which life has to offer.
My own life experiences include being a musician and songwriter with six albums to my credit as well as spending a year of my life walking across the country with a group of 80 people. As the father of two children, and being in a committed relationship with my wife, I have an understanding of family dynamics which goes beyond my formal training. I have also been a client in therapy and understand this work from that point of view.
Ultimately, this work is my passion and for this reason, I thank you for visiting my site. Please feel free to contact me with any comments or questions.
