While there have been some bright spots in this season, I think everyone will agree it hasn't worked out quite as planned. Finding a constant bite has been hard to do. The good thing is there are still plenty of fish to catch. Just not the usual summer fare. The Coronado Islands are seeing tons of tasty Sculpin and Sand Bass as well as the occasional Yellowtail. The local 1/2 day boats fishing the LaJolla kelp beds and the deeper water off shore are scoring some Rockfish and Calico Bass. The weather has been very nice and the water calm. Plus, the loads are light. This a great time for a first timer to get his or her line wet and get some experience under their belt. It's always a good time to fish and it's fun to be out on the water.
