.............Federal Tax Deposit Change.............Federal Tax Deposit Change.............Federal Tax Deposit Change............. Small businesses that have not yet transitioned to making federal tax deposits using electronic methods are going to need to get moving on the transition to electronic form. Form 8109, the old federal tax deposit coupon, is being eliminated by the U.S. Treasury.
The Treasury Department announced in News Release TG-644 that beginning in 2011 virtually all tax deposits made by businesses will have to be made electronically rather than using paper Federal Tax Deposit coupons. The release indicated that the only exception would be for businesses with quarterly tax liabilities of $2,500 or less who currently pay with their Form 941.
