To Our Beloved Community
Gateways Books & Gifts is looking for new ownership. Hanuman Fellowship/Mount
Madonna Center, which started and owns this non-profit store is no longer able to continue its 32 year stewardship. If we do not find new owners by the end of the year, Gateways will close sometime in January. We will however, continue to operate business as usual through the holiday season.
We all feel deeply saddened that this change must take place. Our mission has been and will continue to be to serve the spiritual and human potential of our community. Gateways is and has been a primary source of spiritual knowledge for our community. We have been honored to be a sanctuary for so many, and a witness to both transformation and healing each day we have been open. Like a good book, we hold a story of decades of service to sincere seekers, and we will draw on that legacy for strength in this time of change.
If you or anyone you know would like to take on the sacred trust of continuing the Gateways tradition, we will do everything possible to help with a smooth transition.
Hanuman Fellowship will continue to support Gateways through the end of the year. Our other longstanding service organizations will continue to serve our communityas they have for decades. They are the Pacific Cultural Center (a yoga institute and community center in Santa Cruz), and the Mount Madonna Center (our retreat and conference center above Watsonville). Mount Madonna Center is also home to Mount Madonna School and our smaller metaphysical book store, Oceanview Books.
Please be sure you are on our email list for updates. Your continued support will be much appreciated. We thank you for your good will and patronage and trust throughout the years.
In Peace, Gateways Staff.
Welcome to Gateways one of the worlds oldest and largest sources for everything metaphysical, body mind spirit, for every spiritual tradition on earth. We are a nonprofit store founded in 1978 dedicated to providing support for people on the path of mindful living. We are called Gateways because the store is a gateway for information and tools for all paths of inquiry into human potential and the sacred. Gateways as part of our extremely transformative community of the Santa Cruz area has become much more than we could have possibly imagined. We are devoted to serving the goal of creating a better world that fosters both inner and outer peace and in which the interconnectedness of all things is a primary value. Gateways is a project of the Hanuman Fellowship a non-profit corporation inspired by teachings of Baba Hari Dass, a master teacher of yoga philosophy and practice. Profits from Gateways support the philanthropic activities of the Hanuman Fellowship.
Gateways holds in-store events 2-3 times per week and seats 150 attendees. For larger events, we regularly utilize our sister organization, the Pacific Cultural Center, which boasts seating for 250 as well as other high-quality venues which accommodate up to 600 attendees. In recent years, we have hosted many internationally known and respected authors including: Deepak Chopra, Caroline Myss, Jean Houston, Andrew Weil, Andrew Harvey, James Redfield, Eckart Tolle, Byron Katie, Don Miguel Ruiz, Dr. Masaru Emoto, and many others. We report all these sold out events and weekly sales to both Bookscan and New York Times Bestseller Lists.
