Mr. Root received his law degree from the Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1977. He is licenced to practice before all of the courts of the State of California, the United States Supreme Court, all of the Federal District Courts in Southern California, the Southern District Court of Appeals, and the Court of Military Appeals. He is a member in good standing of the California Bar Association and many other professional associations.

Since serving 4 years in the United States Air Force as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate, Mr. Root has concentrated his practice in the field of employee rights. Mr. Root rose to the level of Partner, Shareholder and Chairman of the Employment Law Department of a 23 attorney firm from 1983 through 1995. In 1996, Mr. Root began a solo practice specializing in representing high income clients against large corporations.

In 1997, Mr. Root achieved what was then the highest jury verdict in Orange County history in a disability discrimination case. Since then, Mr. Root has continued to rank among the top employee rights attorneys in California as measured by the amount of the recoveries he has obtained - - whether by settlement or trial court judgment - - for his individual clients.
