If so, then electrolysis may be for you!
Believe it or not, excessive hair is a problem that affects many women and men - you are not alone. Women have been tweezing, shaving, waxing and chemically treating unwanted facial and body hair for years only to be forced to repeat the process each time the hair reappears. The only procedure known to permanently remove hair is electrolysis. Over a period of time, hairs become smaller and lighter until they are permanently removed. Many hair removal methods provide temporary relief for the problem of unwanted hair but, in some cases, they can even compound the problem. Waxing and tweezing strengthen the hair root, resulting in darker and thicker regrowth and frequently cause ingrown hairs.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The biggest problem with laser is that it works best on very white skin and very dark hairs. Laser has to see the color of the hair as a contrast to the color of the skin so it does not "see" blonde or white hairs at all. And if your skin is olive or darker, the laser also has difficulty seeing the hairs. There have been several different laser machines and techniques in the last few years "reporting" permanent hair removal, but so far, many are just temporary. They retard hair growth of dark hairs on light skin for several months but treatments need to be done every 2-3 months for quite some time before seeing good results. It is still very expensive and there are frequent changes in the laser field. One day they will invent a machine that works on all colors of skin and hair, but, at the current time, it is too expensive and not nearly permanent enough. There is also a far greater risk of injury with laser treatments than with electrolysis.
Women commonly receive treatment to the eyebrows, upper lip, chin, underarms, breasts, abdomen, bikini line and feet. Men frequently have electrolysis performed to contour their beard, neckline, back or shoulders and also for thinning their eyebrows.
I will insert a small probe into the hair follicle, alongside the hair; it does not puncture the skin at all, it merely sits beside the hair itself. A very slight amount of heat and electrical current is then applied through the probe which damages the hair root and the hair slides out. The hairs need to be removed in their active growing stage...this is why it is very important for you to be consistent in your treatments so I can treat your hairs at the right time in their growth cycle for the best results. What you will feel will be a heat or a tingling sensation and some areas (inner thighs and upper lip) are more sensitive and tender than others. I provide topical anaesthetic on top of the skin to make you feel more comfortable. Refraining from caffine and sugar prior to your treatment will also make you more comfortable.
If you have a bothersome, even embarrassing hair problem, you are not alone. It affects as many as 90% of all men and women today. Heredity is the key culprit, certain cultures just have more hair than others. Certain drugs, like birth control pills, blood pressure pills, steroids and hormonal therapy can change your delicate glandular balance and cause increased hair growth. Normal hormonal changes during puberty, pregnancy and menopause may also be a contributing factor. Stress is also a factor. Any situation that sets off the adrenal glands can trigger a hormonal reaction that can cause fine, soft body hair to grow into coarse, more noticable dark hair. THE IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER IS THIS: NO MATTER WHAT THE CAUSE, UNWANTED HAIR CAN BE PERMANENTLY REMOVED.
ABSOLUTELY NOT.... If you go to a professional who has very strict standards of treatment. First of all, the work area should be very sanitary, clean, and a place that you feel comfortable. But, most important, all equipment should be sterilized, sanitized and maintained as required by the State Licensing Board. I use the same technique of sterilization that hospitals and doctors use, assuring you that all bacteria are destroyed on all instruments used, thus ensuring your safety.
ALL EQUIPMENT IS STERILIZED, SANITIZED AND MAINTAINED AS REQUIRED BY THE CALIFORNIA STATE LICENSING BOARD.
