In 2010 the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency implemented the new Blue Boating Program designed to address the impacts associated with boating on Lake Tahoe. This program requires that all vessels entering the Lake be inspected for invasive species, bilge and sewage pollution. Once the boat has passed inspecton vessel is charged an annual fee and a sticker is issuedto officially certify the vessel for use on Lake Tahoe.
