Dr. Henry is a licensed psychologist who works with adults doing individual psychotherapy. Her over 30 years of practice began with doing Traditional Talking Psychotherapy. For the last 15 years she has also been practicing several forms of Somatic Psychotherapy, a type of Mind-Body Psychotherapy.
She is a good listener who is caring, empathetic, practical and interactive. The therapy process that you will experience is goal oriented and focuses on you having practical solutions to the problems you are experiencing. She uses up to date therapy techniques that usually can be tailored to your temperament and individual needs.
Dr. Henry also has special therapeutic skills in working with the opposing aspects of personality that create the internal conflicts that cause addictions, negative habits, poor self esteem and other problems. We all have wiser more adult aspects of ourselves as well as more child like aspects that create these internal conflicts. Dr. Henry is able to use special therapeutic skills to help clients empower the wise adult and to rein in the destructive child. This work can help resolve a wide range of psychological problems.
She has had post graduate training in working with Relationship Issues, Trauma, Posttraumatic Stress, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Addictions, Eating Disorders, Grief and Loss, Stress, Psychological Aspects of Chronic Illness, Mindfulness Meditation, EMDR, Interactive Imagerysm, and Somatic Experiencing.
Her graduate and post graduate studies have shaped a broad range of knowledge about how personality develops and functions. Additional training has focused extensively on how a client's family experiences as a child and later life experiences shape adult feelings, thinking and current mental health symptoms. She has had further extensive training in several types of Somatic Psychotherapy techniques that work with the unconscious nervous system.
She is a certified practitioner in EMDR, Interactive Imagerysm, and Somatic Experiencing.
