The Monterey County Rape Crisis Center (MCRCC) is a nonprofit agency whose mission is to advocate for all victims and survivors of sexual assault and child sexual abuse, to prevent sexual violence in our community through education, and to provide ongoing support and healing to survivors of sexual assault.

The Monterey County Rape Crisis Center 25th Anniversary of the Together with Love Run/Walk was held on Valentine’s Day 2010

Over 1250 participants, including 145 kids in the 1K Kids’ Fun Run. It was a beautiful day and we raised over $30,000 for services provided by the center.

In August, 2007, the Monterey County Rape Crisis Center assumed responsibility for crisis services for sexual assault survivors countywide due to the closure of the Women’s Crisis Center. For the next 6 weeks through to early October, much time was spent planning and organizing for the permanent expansion of services with the financial assistance of the State Office of Emergency Services and several local foundations.
By the end of October 2007, four new staff members were hired, a 3 year lease was signed for office space in Salinas, and the Board of Directors voted to officially change the agency’s name to MONTEREY COUNTY RAPE CRISIS CENTER to better reflect the new service area. By early December the name change was approved by the Secretary of State, the Board approved a new logo design, the new staff completed training, and the office was furnished/equipped and ready to provide services for survivors in the Salinas area.
The agency expects to begin providing prevention education services early in 2008 through a grant award amendment with the State Department of Health Services.
After providing crisis intervention and prevention education services for over 30 years on the Monterey Peninsula and in North Monterey County, we are excited to begin this new challenge of reaching out to survivors throughout Monterey County.
The Monterey County Rape Crisis Center believes that No One should ever be sexually violated, and that anyone who is, deserves nothingless than a complete recovery. If you have been sexually assaulted, the most important thing is your safety. Make sure you are in a safe environment and your attacker will not be able to hurt you again. Sexual assault can be emotionally and physically damaging. Healing takes time.We want you to know that you are not alone and there are people here to help, support and listen to you. (more)
We acknowledge that anyone can be a victim of sexual abuse and want to challenge current myths surrounding gender violence. This is why all our services are available to both men and women as we are aware that sexual violence knows no gender, race, class, age, sexual orientation or ethnicity. We offer individual and group counseling for both men and women. Individual counseling is offered to survivors of rape, attempted rape, childhood sexual abuse, incest or any other type of sexual violence. Our groups offer a safe and confidential environment to rebuild self-esteem and regain a sense of control. (more)
