Welcome to the most unique and historical bed and breakfast in the Redwood National Park. At the mouth of the Klamath River along California's northcoast, the Historic Requa Inn offers a special lodging experience in the heart of California's Redwoods and less than a mile from the Pacific Ocean. In fact, we were named one of National Geographic Traveller's 2009 "Stay List" - a collection of 129 of the must stay places in the United States, Canada and Mexico; earned a 2010 Fodors Choice Distinction from Fodor's Travel; and was recently featured as a great Northern California redwoods getaway by the ever popular Weekend Sherpa.
Offering spectacular river views and rustic accomodations, our central location in the Redwood National Park (we're literally in the middle of the Park) makes the Historic Requa Inn your ideal basecamp to explore where the Redwoods meet the Sea. Unwind at the end of an adventuresome day in our simple, yet comfortable, rooms; soak in the hot-tub; savor delicious home-cooked meals; and enjoy the camarederie of your fellow guests.
Our guests are hikers, fishermen, paddlers, cyclists, birders, beachcombers, and outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds from all over the world. The inn is also a haven for writers, photographers, dreamers, planners, and those who simply want a peaceful getaway. Built as a 22 room hotel in 1914 after a fire destroyed an older hotel built on the same site in the late 1800s, this old building has a character that we invite you to experience. As responsible stewards of this wonderful Inn and this beautiful area, we offset our carbon footprint thanks to The Carbon Farmer.
Meet the Innkeepers!
Taking over in 2010 are Janet and Marty Wortman, their son Thomas and their daughter and son-in-law, Geneva and Reweti Wiki. Janet, Geneva and Tom are Yurok tribal members whose family have lived at Requa since the beginning of time. We're excited to continue a tradition of hosting excellence at the Requa Inn and are thankful to Dave and Barb Gross for creating so many special memories for many wonderful guests during their time here. We look forward to meeting you when you drop by the Requa Inn!
What do people say about the Historic Requa Inn? Amazing Inn in Redwood Country... river view rooms are wonderful and you can lay in bed and watch the sunrise and fog over the river. The dining room and great room are large comfortable rooms with great views... Half an hour after breakfast we were hiking in the midst of 300+ft trees.
