Hollister Gliding Club has evolved into Hollister Soaring Center LLC to better serve the glider pilots and soaring enthusiasts of the greater Bay Area. HSC will provide this soaring community with long term stability and a financial foundation for our continued enjoyment of unpowered flight.
HSC is located in Hollister, California, just south of the San Francisco Bay Area. (About a 45 minute drive south of San Jose.) We are open year round with great local soaring conditions in the valley and mountains surrounding Hollister.
We offer professional glider flight instruction that will take you from your first flight to solo, and all the way through your FAA Private Pilot Glider certificate. Additional instruction in cross country soaring, and glider aerobatics is also available, as well as the training to get your Commercial Glider and Certified Flight Instructor-Glider certificates too!
Visit the Cross Country section of our website to read about some of our great soaring flights. 300KM and 500KM flights are common in spring, summer and fall. We also get prefrontal and post frontal soaring conditions all winter too.
After HSC students earn their FAA glider license they can join BASA (Bay Area Soaring Associates. BASA gives you access to a nice selection of high performance gliders for just one low monthly fee. You must be a licenced glider pilot to join BASA. Tows are provided by HSC.

On Sunday June 14, 2009 Eric Rupp met this golden eagle at 8500' over San Benito Mountain -- and the eagle wanted him to KNOW he was there first! Watch the video of Eric's eagle encounter.
