Hammers and Associates, Inc. have been practicing architecture since 1990 and have been working in the field of resort area homes and unique log home architecture and design since1976. Specializing in Rustic Craftsman, Alpine, retro Lodge and related styles, we have been committed to green architecture and practical elegance for the last 20 years. Evolving from a one-man consulting business in the early 90's, through the purchasing of Hart Engineering Group, we have become a full-service architectural and structural design, consulting and drafting firm. We also have experience in civil engineering, as we provided these services in the late 1990's for many residences as well as a major project for the Lahontan Golf Course Community Resort in Truckee. Through our association with our engineers in Couer d'Alene, Idaho, we have the capability to do projects in 11 states in the Western region.
Uniquelogs, a branch of Hammers & Associates Architects, are log home architects and log home engineers. We have completed numerous projects in Truckee and the surrounding area, including; Tahoe Donner, Squaw Valley USA, Northstar, Incline Village and Alpine Meadows. Our log home expertice is evident in the Serene Lakes, Truckee and Tahoe Donner residences, as well as in many log homes in the Lake Tahoe and Truckee areas. Our association with regional log home engineers allows us to design for projects in Heavenly Valley, Sun Valley and Park City, as well as Kirkwood, Snowbird, Mammoth Mountain and other western resort areas. We are currently licensed in California and Nevada.
The firm has gained a reputation of taking a "can do" approach to solving common, complex or demanding architectural and engineering tasks. As evidenced in our Mission Statement, commitment to excellence and owner satisfaction is paramount. We believe the extra time and thoroughness to do the job right the first time, more than pays for itself in the long term. We insure that there is direct principal involvment with all projects and site observations/decisions.

Specializing in unique "snow country" and passive solar design, we are equally comfortable dealing with logs (our specialty) or stick-frame construction. Clients who have done their "homework" by researching the capabilities and limitations of log construction, allow us to get off to a quick start, eliminating unsuitable options and saving each of us time and money. Our style is often refered to as "Alpine Rustic", though we are equally capable of a variety of vernacular styles. Concerning major remodel/addition projects (another specialty); we take great pride in blending additions so that they form an integral statement and "look" of belonging to the original structure and design intent. We also take pride in the ability to deliver the best possible project within the the owners reasonable budget.
We have recently dramitically expanded into the field of major remodels/additions and have completed projects in Squaw Valley, Tahoe Donner, and Northstar-at-Tahoe. The construction costs of these projects has ranged from $425,000 to $1,250,000, and they are truly extreme makeovers; recycling the core structure, revising the exterior look and feel, and updating the mechanical and insulation components to meet or exceed todays new energy standards. As stated previously, we consistantly deliver designs where the finished residences look like they have always been that way and/or where the additions are a cohesive and integral part of the architecture.
