"If you call you will speak directly with me," says Brent. "I’m on call 24 hours a day, everyday of the year. There is no secretary, no answering service or other third party to direct your call to whomever happens to be available. I handle all calls personally. You will deal only with me, from start to finish."

How can one person handle a business 24 hours a day? "My business is much smaller than these large agencies with several employees," says Brent. "I have fewer clients so the phone isn’t ringing all the time. This gives me more time to devote to each case."

What if the defendant is being held hundreds of miles away? If, for instance, you live in Los Angeles and your son is being held in Sacramento, how can a bail agent in Orange County help you? "It’s very simple," says Brent. "I would meet with the family (I drive to their location), do the paperwork, and call a bail agent nearest the jail where the person is being held and have that agent (for a small fee) post the bond for me. More frequently, all this can be done over a fax machine."
